Lexington police search for thieves who robbed, ran over man

Lexington police are looking for two men in a red Dodge pickup truck who ran over a man Thursday evening after stealing $10 from him.

The victim was taken to University of Kentucky hospital with "what our initial reports believed to be a broken leg and broken pelvis," Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. Further details about his condition were not available. Police have not identified the victim.

The men in the truck apparently pulled up beside the victim, who was walking on Gerald Drive in the Winburn neighborhood, and asked for change for a $10 bill. The victim handed them two $5 bills, but he struggled with the two when they tried to snatch the bills without paying him in return, Roberts said.

He fell during the struggle, and the truck ran him over, she said.

A description of the two thieves was not immediately available.
