Lexington man charged with murder in Frankfort shooting

A Lexington man has been charged in the shooting death of a man found lying in the street in Frankfort.

Mark A. Floyd, 34, was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force with assistance from Lexington police, Frankfort police said. Investigators have been searching for Floyd since the shooting on July 17.

Floyd is accused of shooting Larry Starks, 56, who was found about 12:30 a.m. lying at the intersection of East Second Street and Capital Avenue, near the Veterans of Foreign Wars building. He was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center where he died, police said. Starks had apparently been attending a birthday celebration at the VFW.

Floyd was being held at the Franklin County Regional Jail.
