Ex-Wildcat Davender pleads not guilty in alleged ticket scam

Former University of Kentucky basketball star Ed Davender pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he took $4,000 from a Louisville man for Final Four tickets he didn't have.

Davender was arraigned in Fayette District Court on one charge of felony theft by deception in an amount less than $10,000.

From December through March, Richard Adams, 50, gave Davender a total of $4,000 for 14 tickets, according to court documents. Davender did not provide the tickets or return the money, the documents said.

At the time, the former player was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to 19 previous counts of theft by deception for selling non-existent tickets to 19 people.

Davender has said the new charge is a misunderstanding. He will go back to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 26.
