Lexington police investigating apparent homicide

A body was found near 2060 Russell Cave Road early Sunday by someone who came out to fetch their morning newspaper, but police and the coroner are saying little about the apparent homicide.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn told Lexington television reporters at the scene that the body, which was pronounced dead just before 9 a.m., was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. He told WTVQ-TV (Channel 36) that the death was being investigated as a homicide.

He declined to say whether the deceased was a male or female, and gave no other details.
