Trial date set in attempted-murder case in Bourbon County

A trial date has been set for a man charged with attempted murder stemming from an alleged attack at the Bourbon County jail in July 2009.

Bass Webb, 30, appeared in Bourbon Circuit Court Tuesday before a special judge, Madison Circuit Judge Jean Chenault Logue. Logue scheduled the trial for May 16. The trial is expected to last about four days.

Webb is charged with two counts of attempted murder for allegedly trying to run over two Bourbon County jail employees last summer. After he was arrested, police have said, Webb confessed to killing Bryia Runiewicz, 32, at her home in Cynthiana.

Webb is expected to go to trial in March on the murder charge in Harrison County. Webb also is charged in the death of Sabrina Marie Vaughn in Montgomery County. Vaughn had been missing since December 2003. Webb is expected to go to trial in February in that case.

Both Vaughn and Runiewicz were dating Webb at the times of their deaths.
