Police searching for man who robbed, assaulted woman

Lexington police are asking for the public's help to find a man they say broke into a woman's home Monday night, assaulted her and stole her car.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 3000 block of Montavesta Road at 11:30 p.m.

The victim, who is in her 80s, told officers a man who appeared to be in his 20s broke in and assaulted her, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. The man dragged the woman by her hair, stole a small, undisclosed amount of money from her purse and took her car keys.

He drove off in her car, described only as a light-colored 2008 Subaru four-door sedan. Police did not release any other details about the assailant.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect, or anyone who thinks they have seen the car, is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
