Frankfort man pleads not guilty to 16 sex-abuse charges

A Frankfort man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to 16 charges of sex crimes involving children.

Cody Scott Lewis, 20, is charged with five counts of first-degree sodomy, 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree rape. For all charges, the victim was younger than 12.

According to court documents, the three victims are relatives of Lewis.

The parents of the victims contacted Lexington police after noticing "some unusual behaviors" in the children, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. She did not elaborate.

Roberts said Lewis was interviewed at police headquarters, where he was later arrested. According to court documents, Lewis admitted to the crimes.

Roberts said the children were abused for "an extended amount of time; possibly more than a year."

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10. Lewis is being held at the Fayette County jail on $97,500 bond.
