State police collect 389 pounds of prescription drugs

Kentucky State Police collected 389 pounds of prescription drugs over the weekend for the national "Take Back" initiative, the agency announced Tuesday.

The program, organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration, was designed to give people a safe and convenient way to get rid of unneeded medications.

The 16 state police drop-off locations were among 4,000 sites across the country.
