Lexington police search for man who robbed Waffle House

A Lexington restaurant was robbed early Wednesday by a man who hid his identity by wearing a Halloween mask.

The man walked into the Waffle House at 3040 Lakecrest Circle off Beaumont Center Circle at 3:30 a.m., showed employees a black handgun and demanded cash, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses told police he headed toward two nearby hotels.

Police dogs were unable to locate the man, she said.

The man was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a mask similar to one worn by Jason Vorhees, the villain in Friday the 13th horror movies.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
