Infant dies after Monday wreck near London

A six-month-old girl from Clay County has died from head injuries suffered in a car wreck on Monday, according to a news release from Laurel County Sheriff Fred Yaden.

The baby, Angelina Gregory, was a passenger in a car that ran over an embankment and hit a tree near London, Yaden said.

Deputy Sheriff Tim Smallwood said the baby's mother, also a passenger in the car, Christina Gregory, was treated for minor injuries.

The driver, Mercedee Brown, had to be cut out of the vehicle, Smallwood said. Both women are 19 and from Clay County.

Angelina was in a child-safety seat in the backseat of the car when the wreck happened, according to the coroner's report.

Speed and a slick road were factors in the wreck, Yaden said.
