A competency hearing was scheduled Friday for a Lexington man facing charges of murder and driving under the influence stemming from a crash that killed a woman on New Circle Road in January, according to the Fayette Circuit Clerk's Office.
Adam Leake, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charges in March. During a status hearing Friday, he was scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 20 for the competency hearing.
Police say that on Jan. 19 Leake was driving the wrong way on the inner loop when he hit a car driven by Connie Layne, 40, head-on. Police said Leake did not have his headlights on for part of the time he was driving the wrong way.
