A Pike County grand jury has indicted a Louisville man on attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting that involved an officer in August, Kentucky State Police said.
Charles R. Hocker, 33, was indicted Wednesday on two counts of attempted murder and first-degree fleeing and evading police, state police said.
On Aug. 13, Pikeville police responded to a reported violation of an emergency protective order at North Mayo Trail in Pikeville. Police said an intoxicated and suicidal man was trying to force his way into a residence.
Police passed the suspect's vehicle as they approached the residence. The driver would not stop the vehicle but continued on Hurricane Creek Road, state police said. The driver eventually turned onto a gravel drive and then put the vehicle into reverse.
