Nicholas County sheriff accused of firing gun in his apartment

A Nicholas County deputy sheriff has been arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, Kentucky State Police said Thursday.

David A. Gray, 49, was indicted by a Perry County grand jury last month, state police said. On Thursday, police said Gray had been arrested and was being held at the Bourbon County jail.

According to state police, the indictment said Gray fired a handgun inside his apartment on Christopher Road in Hazard on Feb. 24. There were two adults and an infant inside the home, state police said.

Gray was previously a deputy sheriff in Perry County.
