One person died and three people, including a Kentucky State Police trooper, were injured in a wreck about eight miles east of Richmond Wednesday morning, state police said.
Roy T. Burgess, 63, of Irvine, died in the wreck. He was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus that crossed the center line and struck another vehicle. A passenger in his car, Jillian M. Willoughby, 26, of Millersburg, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with multiple injuries, state police said. She was in serious condition Wednesday evening.
The driver of the second vehicle, Steve A. Skaggs, 53, of Jeffersonville, was taken to Pattie A. Regional Medical Center in Richmond with injuries not considered life-threatening, state police said. He was driving a 1998 Volkswagon Beetle.
Trooper Chris Chenault, 45, of Lexington, responded to the two-vehicle wreck about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday on Ky. 52 near the Madison-Estill county line. He was struck by a Madison County ambulance while photographing the scene. Chenault was taken to Central Baptist Hospital with a leg injury, state police said.
