The former manager of a lending company in Shelbyville has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for stealing more than $600,000 from the company, U.S. Attorney Kerry Harvey announced Tuesday.
Sandra Chilton, 46, pleaded guilty to wire fraud in the case. She admitted taking about $648,525 from Pioneer Credit Company, according to a news release.
Chilton, who managed the Shelbyville office of the company, approved fraudulent loan applications in the names of other people, then took the money.
She admitted using part of the money to pay off gambling debts, Harvey's office said.
In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves ordered Chilton to repay Pioneer Credit.
