Man killed in downtown Lexington

Police are investigating as a homicide the downtown shooting death of a 19-year-old Lexington man early Sunday, according to the Fayette County Coroner's office.

The victim was identified as Brian Edward Carr. The shooting occurred at 2:30 a.m. outside the Bar Lexington complex on East Main Street.

Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said many people were in the area when multiple gunshots rang out, but no one else was injured.

Two Lexington police officers in the area heard the shots and found Carr, who had multiple gunshot wounds.

The officers administered first aid until emergency medical technicians arrived, Van Brackel said.

Carr died at 3:27 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, a statement from the coroner's office said.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified, Van Brackel said.
