A 19-year-old Lexington man has been charged with attempted murder after he fired a semiautomatic handgun into a vehicle early Saturday, according to police.
Tyree L. Williams also was charged with tampering with physical evidence and third-degree criminal mischief, according to court records.
The incident occurred at 1:15 a.m. at 1825 Liberty Road, Williams' address. The vehicle's rear window and windshield were shattered, and a bullet penetrated the driver's headrest, according to the records.
Williams and the people inside the vehicle fled after the shots were fired. Williams hid the gun in shrubbery near his apartment, according to the records.

Williams was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. He was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
