A police pursuit disrupted some Lexington streets Friday morning before ending in an arrest.

Willie F. Burnett IV, 28, was arrested and charged after a short pursuit that followed a hit-and-run accident at 7:24 a.m. Friday, said Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts.

She said an officer got out of his car to speak with all parties involved, but the suspect drove off.

The car Burnett was driving, however, had a flat tire, Roberts said.

Police followed him to Meadow Lane and Darley Drive, where the suspect got out and ran.

Officers blocked off portions of neighborhood roads, including Meadow Lane, Loudon Avenue and Darley Drive.

Lexington Police Lt. Fred Lisanby said police called in a K-9 unit to help with the search.

Roberts said the man was arrested on Meadow Lane at about 8:15 a.m.

Cocaine was found in the suspect's possession during the arrest, Roberts said.

She said his charges will include traffic violations, fleeing and evading, and trafficking a controlled substance.
