Clerk shot during robbery

A Lexington store clerk was sent to a hospital Tuesday after being shot during an apparent attempted robbery.

The clerk’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, “based on preliminary information,” Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

The shooting happened about 11:40 a.m. at Progress Market at 600 North Limestone, at the corner of East Sixth Street.

Police are looking for the shooter who was described as wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and a red hat. He wore a red bandanna over his face, Roberts said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lexington Division of Police at (859) 258-3600.
