Coroner says woman's death at Calumet was suicide

The woman found Wednesday in a Calumet Farm barn committed suicide, the Fayette County coroner's office said Friday.

Linda Witman, 48, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner. She was found Wednesday in a barn at the rear of the historic farm. She was the wife of the farm's manager, Bill Witman, according to a friend.

Bill Farish of Lane's End Farm near Versailles told The Blood-Horse that Linda Witman was formerly director of sales there.

Bill Witman reported his wife missing Sunday night. Crews searched the property Sunday and Monday.
