State police have charged an Ashland woman with first-degree criminal abuse, a felony, in connection with the death of her daughter, according to a news release.
Officers arrested Lakyn Jobe, 19, on Monday after a Boyd County grand jury indicted her.
Jobe allegedly left her 16-month-old daughter, Cally Jobe, with an acquaintance, Brian "Trinity" Brewster, 45, on May 1. The toddler was unresponsive when Jobe returned and died two days later, according to a news release.
The medical examiner's office said Cally died of "abusive closed head injuries," state police said.
The grand jury also indicted Brewster, who had been staying with Jobe, on charges of first-degree manslaughter and being a persistent felony offender. Brewster's whereabouts are unknown, police said.
State police asked that anyone with information on where to find Brewster call 606-928-6421 or 1-800-222-5555.
