A shooting early Thursday in Somerset left one man dead, another wounded and a third charged with murder, according to Somerset police.
Police said the shooting happened after Matthew Patterson, 35, went to the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and the two got into an argument that turned physical.
Two other men at the apartment, Jeremiah Litton, 38, and Curtis Glen Blevins, 32, tried to break up the fight, according to a news release from the Somerset Police Department.
As the two pulled Patterson away from the woman, whom police did not identify, Patterson allegedly pulled a pistol and shot Blevins and then Litton, hitting him in the chest.

The county coroner pronounced Litton dead at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Blevins, who was shot in the back, was taken to the hospital for treatment but his injury was not life-threatening, detective Shannon Smith said.
Police charged Patterson with murder and first-degree assault. He also was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment because he pointed the pistol at others in the apartment, according to a court record.
Police received a call about the shootings, which occurred on Monticello Street, at 12:12 a.m. Thursday.
