Police have arrested a Knox County man who ran off after a homeowner shot at him during an alleged theft attempt.
The original incident happened Sept. 16. Two men were allegedly trying to steal scrap metal from a barn when the owner showed up and confronted them.
One suspect ran into the woods, but the second, identified by police as Jackie Boles, fled in a car.
The landowner fired shots at the car as Boles left, police said.
Police found Boles' car abandoned a short distance away.
He eluded capture for more than a week, but sheriff's deputies found him in a field about 10 a.m. Sunday and arrested him, state police said Monday.
Boles is charged with wanton endangerment, theft and burglary.
