The death of an inmate at the Fayette County Detention Center in June was caused by complications of congenital heart disease, the Fayette County coroner's office said Tuesday.
Anthony Davis, 26, died June 25 at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Davis had asked to go to the jail's medical unit but wasn't moved for nearly 17 hours. Two hours later, he was found without a pulse and rushed to the UK hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He had been booked into the jail June 19 after being arrested for first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.

Davis' mother, Janet Davis, has said that she does not think that her son was given his medicine while at the jail. Urban County Public Safety Commissioner Clay Mason said in August that Davis was given his medicine after his mother brought it to the jail.
