A man who was scouting Monday for places to hunt in Laurel County found a pipe bomb, according to a news release from Sheriff John Root.
The man found the device on Dezarn Road four miles east of London and called the sheriff's office.
The device was made from a large piece of PVC pipe and contained dynamite and a blasting cap. It did not appear to be armed, but it had the components necessary to qualify as a bomb, police said.
State police removed the bomb. Root's office is investigating.
