CYNTHIANA — For the second time in two weeks, Harrison Circuit Judge Jay Delaney overruled a defense motion to postpone Thursday's start of the Bass Webb murder trial.
Public defender Craig Newbern Jr. asked the judge on Nov. 18 to delay the trial, and Delaney overruled that motion. Newbern asked again on Tuesday, saying the defense needs more time to interview witnesses.
But Delaney said the trial will start as scheduled with jury selection on Thursday in Cynthiana.
The judge granted a prosecution motion to hold a hearing to question two proposed expert witnesses that the defense intends to call. That hearing will interrupt jury selection Friday. When the hearing is over, jury selection will resume.
