Kentucky American awards $5,000 in grants to Kentucky firefighting organizations

Kentucky American Water said Tuesday that it had awarded more than $5,000 in grants to state firefighting organizations through its newly established Firefighting Support Grant Program.

The program, established this year, provides financial assistance to fire departments serving communities in Kentucky American service territories.

Kentucky American considered grant applications requesting funds for personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, training and other things used in community fire protection.

Most of the grants awarded were for about $500 each.

The organizations awarded grants are: the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Fire and Emergency Services; Jessamine County Fire District; Nicholasville Fire Department; Monterey Fire Department in Owen County; Owen County Volunteer Fire Department; Owen County Life Squad; Owenton Volunteer Fire Department; Bourbon County Fire Rescue; Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department; and Hutchison Station Fire Department in Paris.
