Three Eastern Kentucky men were arrested on child pornography possession and distribution charges after Kentucky State Police executed several search warrants pertaining to illegal Internet activity last week in the Pike ville area, state police said.
Arrested were Roger Thacker II, 23, of Pikeville; Michael Shepherd, 38, of West Van Lear; and Clarence Thacker, 37, of Robinson Creek.
Clarence Thacker also was charged with violating a law pertaining to being a sexual offender registrant prohibited from using a social networking Web site, instant messaging or chat room accessible by minors, state police said.
The search warrants followed a three-month investigation into criminal activity involving sexual exploitation of children. Police investigated 10 people suspected of participating in the distribution of child pornography files. Items used to distribute child pornography, and thousands of images and videos of child pornography, were seized, state police said.
