Knife-wielding man robs two Lexington stores

Lexington police are looking for a man who robbed two stores in two nights while carrying a large, serrated knife.

No one was injured during either crime.

The most recent robbery occurred at Hook Novelty, an adult novelty store on Winchester Road, about 9:45 p.m. Friday.

Police Lt. J.J. Lombardi said the man, wearing a dark Carhart jacket, gloves and a medium-blue ski mask, escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. He drove away in a gray Hyundai Sonata that had been reported stolen two days prior.

The account given by witnesses matched the description of a man who robbed Pizza Hut on South Limestone on Thursday night, Lombardi said.

"It is the same suspect, we believe, that was responsible for those robberies," he said.

The stolen car had a Kentucky license plate number 082 EDP. Surveillance video of the man had been captured at Hook Novelty, but the video was unavailable Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
