Woman who stabbed herself during police chase remains hospitalized

A woman who stabbed herself during a three-county police chase Tuesday remained in the hospital, and Kentucky State Police have not made her name public.

KSP officials at the Frankfort Post said Wednesday that they were not yet releasing the woman's name, citing her apparent suicidal condition.

The pursuit began in Franklin County Tuesday after police received a call that a woman was armed and "possibly suicidal."

Troopers followed the woman's car through Anderson County and into Shelby County, finally stopping her by bumping her car from behind and causing it to spin out. Officers said later that she apparently stabbed herself in the neck during the chase.

Troopers charged her with driving under the influence and evading police. She was being treated at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
