Woman is robbed of purse, injured near University of Kentucky campus

The University of Kentucky sent out a campus alert Thursday after a woman was robbed and injured near campus.

The woman, who was not identified, was walking near Mill Street and Bolivar Street about 7:45 p.m. when a man pushed her down and ran off with her purse, Lexington police Lt. Mike Wright said.

She hurt her hand in the fall and was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital to be checked out.

The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sweat pants and a winter hat. He was described as a black man with no facial hair, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, possibly in his mid-30s.
