Estill man drives into police car while allegedly intoxicated

An Estill County man was charged with wanton endangerment early Monday after allegedly hitting a police officer's vehicle while driving under the influence, according to state police.

While turning from KY 52 onto KY 499, George Davis, 20, of Irvine, hit the side of Officer James Gross' vehicle, state police said in a news release.

Gross, an officer with the Irvine Police Department, was treated at a local hospital.

Davis was not hurt. State police arrested him on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, wanton endangerment and reckless driving, state police said.

The wreck happened shortly before 2:30 a.m.
