A Paris man was seriously injured Friday in a single-car accident at Hughes Lane and Russell Cave Road.
The accident happened at 6:55 a.m., when a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Alexander G. Oliva drifted off the left shoulder of the road. Oliva overcorrected, and the sport utility vehicle overturned onto the driver's side, Lexington Police Sgt. Billy Richmond said in a statement. The vehicle then slid several feet and struck a tree, roof first, Richmond said.
Oliva was extricated from the vehicle and taken to University of Kentucky Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.
Wet pavement is suspected to be the cause of the accident.
