A Covington man was indicted Thursday on charges of kidnapping and armed bank robbery and for firearm offenses.
Joseph Weir, 39, is alleged to have abducted a woman at Crestview Town Center and taken her to Ohio on May 31 to delay her from reporting his theft of her possessions and in an attempt to get access to her bank accounts, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
The indictment alleges Weir brandished a firearm during the kidnapping. Weir also is accused of robbing the Huntington Bank in Covington while in possession of a handgun on Dec. 5.
