Kentucky State Police charged a Morehead man Friday for allegedly entering a woman's home and shooting her.
According to the Morehead KSP Post, Unadell Eldridge told troopers that Dewey Brickles, 56, entered her home on Cranston Road in Rowan County about 8:30 a.m. Friday and shot her once in the lower abdomen with a .22-caliber pistol.
Troopers combed the area for about an hour before locating and arresting Brickles, police said.
Eldridge was air-lifted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with what police described as "non-life-threatening injuries." UK officials said she was in fair condition Friday afternoon.
Brickles was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, charged with first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.
