Motorists rescue man from burning car

At least two people helped pull a man from a burning car after a crash on Nicholasville Road Monday morning.

Police were called to the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Southpoint Drive, near Man o' War Boulevard, about 5:30 a.m. because a car had rear-ended another vehicle and caught fire.

Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said at least two people helped pull the driver out of the car.

It was unclear exactly how many people helped with the rescue. Several residents, including an off-duty firefighter, had stopped to help, she said.

The driver was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center with undetermined injuries.

The driver of the SUV and a child in that vehicle escaped injury, according to The Associated Press.
