Woman caught trying to smuggle contraband into Blackburn, police say

A woman visiting the Blackburn Correctional Complex tried to smuggle what is believed to be marijuana into the prison via a paper towel on Sunday, police say.

An officer said he saw Thresann Fowler, 42, of Cincinnati, drop a rolled up paper towel near the inmate exit as she left the visitor building at 3:30 p.m., according to a police uniform citation.

Inside the paper towel was a plastic baggie containing 5.5 grams of what appears to be marijuana, according to the citation.

Fowler is charged with first-degree promoting contraband.

She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on Monday and was released on $300 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court again May 1.
