Lexington man killed in I-64 crash

A Lexington man was killed Sunday night in an Interstate 64 accident in Rowan County, police said.

Michael Cornett of Lexington was westbound on I-64 about 7:45 p.m. when he lost control of the 2009 Toyota Camry he was driving near the 133 mile marker, crossed the median and collided with a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound, according to Kentucky State Police. The truck was driven by David Odell.

Cornett's wife, Leslie, and son Kevin were taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead before being transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, police said. Michael Cornett died at St. Claire.

Heavy rain and wet roads were factors in the wreck, police said.
