A girl who had run away from Florida was found Wednesday evening in London, Kentucky State Police said.
The London state police post had been notified Sunday to be on the lookout for a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was thought to be connected to the girl.
Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, troopers went to a motel in the London area to look for the vehicle. They saw two people walking toward the truck, but the two drove off before the officers could stop them.
Police were able to block the truck after a pursuit that covered about 15 miles.
The driver, Dustin Simmons, 18, of Westville, Fla., was charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing from police, resisting arrest, unlawful transaction with a minor and several traffic offenses.
The girl, whose name was not released because she is younger than 18, was released to a relative, according to the news release.
Trooper Don Trosper, spokesman for the London post, said he understood that Simmons and the girl were boyfriend and girlfriend. More charges against Simmons are expected, police said.
