Man from England indicted on sex charges after Blue Grass Airport arrest

A federal grand jury in Lexington has indicted a British national on charges he traveled to the United States to have sex with a minor in Pikeville.

Solomon Blue Waters, 41, was charged with traveling in interstate or foreign commerce to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity and with traveling to the United States to engage in illicit sexual conduct, according to an announcement Friday by the office of the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Waters was arrested Aug. 28 after he arrived at Blue Grass Airport. He is accused of using the Internet to induce a minor in sexual activity beginning in mid-June 2011 until July 6, according to the U.S. attorney.

Kentucky State Police said last week that the arrest occurred after an investigation of illegal Internet activity from Waters' England home. Waters traveled to Kentucky thinking he was meeting a minor girl, but was met by law enforcement, police said.

Waters was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Waters' next court appearance hasn't been set. Conviction on the charges could carry prison terms of at least 10 years. However, sentences are determined by the judge.
