Lexington homeowner fires on intruder

A homeowner fired on a would-be burglar on Saturday, Lexington police said.

Police are looking for a man who they say tried to break into a home on Jairus Drive off of Tates Creek Road.

Lexington police Lt. Dean Marcum said the homeowner surprised the intruder as he tried to enter the home around 4 p.m. The homeowner shot several times at the man but did not hit him. The man took off on foot. He is described as an older man with a scruffy beard, wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. Anyone with any information may contact Lexington police at 258-3600.
