The Fayette County coroner's office has identified the teen who died Thursday night after the four-wheeler he was on struck a pickup truck.

Michael L. Sparks, 15, died of multiple blunt force trauma, according to the coroner. He died at 8:28 p.m. at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Grief counselors on Friday were at four Fayette County schools where the victim attended or had previously attended, said spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall. That includes an elementary school, a middle school, a high school and a technical school, Deffendall said.

The police department's Collision Reconstruction Unit was investigating the accident.

Lexington police Lt. Scott Blakely said it appeared the all-terrain vehicle ran a stop sign and struck the side of the pickup truck, Michael from the vehicle.

Lexington fire Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz said emergency-medical technicians were sent to the intersection of Eastland Parkway and Anniston Drive about 8 p.m. Thursday. The coroner's report said Michael was pronounced dead moments after his arrival to the emergency department.
