A man arrested in California last week on an outstanding warrant from Lexington pleaded not guilty Wednesday to murder and robbery.

Kirby Bryan Ruano, 20, was extradited to Kentucky after being arrested in Los Angeles. He was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.

He is accused of killing Saul Perez Ruis, 33, on July 16 in an apartment on Dinsmore Drive.

Police have said that Ruis and at least two other people forced their way inside Perez's home at the Dinsmore Apartments near Henry Clay High School and began shooting. Witnesses said it appeared that Perez returned fire.
