A Kentucky State Police trooper was injured Wednesday evening while making an arrest on the Bluegrass Parkway near Bardstown.
Trooper Jonathan Downs stopped a vehicle after clocking it going 106 mph in a 70 mph zone, according to a news release.
After allegedly failing a field sobriety test, the driver resisted arrest.
During the altercation, the news release said, Downs suffered a "significant injury to his left hand and thumb."

Downs tasered the suspect twice before being able to arrest him.
Jason E. Aaron, 26, of Bardstown was charged with assault, resisting arrest, menacing, driving under the influence, speeding, careless driving and improper lane use. He was being held in the Nelson County jail.
Downs was treated at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown and was referred to a hand specialist, the news release said.
