Police find Knox man's body; three are charged with murder

Three Knox County men have been charged with killing a man whose body was found late Sunday, according to Barbourville police.

John C. Mills, 42; George Marcum, 52; and James Wyatt, 33, are charged with murder in the death of Jonathan Foley, who would have turned 27 on Friday, two days after he was killed.

Police began investigating a report Nov. 7 that Foley was missing. They learned that Foley had been killed that day, said Steve Owens, a detective with the Barbourville Police Department.

After charging the three men in the case, police learned the location of Foley's body and found it over an embankment beside a gravel road in the community of Trosper, Owens said.

Owens said an autopsy will be required to confirm how Foley was killed. He declined to discuss a motive for the homicide.

Owens said Foley had been in the Kentucky National Guard and had been deployed to Iraq, but he didn't think Foley was still in the service.

The investigation is continuing, and more people could be charged, Owens said.
