Lexington police were looking for the person who fired a gun into a car where a child sat waiting on a parent Friday afternoon.
The 7-year-old girl was not injured. She was sitting in the back seat of a car parked outside 472 Price Road, off Georgetown Street, when someone fired two shots into the windshield from another car.
"We believe he was just shooting at the vehicle. We don't have anything that would lead us to believe that he knew she was in the car," Lt. Dean Marcum said.
Witnesses told police the shooter, who appeared to be in his late teens, drove away in a white Pontiac Sunfire with Florida license plates.

Marcum said police had a "person of interest" in the case, but declined to release his name.
The girl had ridden to the house with two adults, one of whom was a parent. The adults had just parked the car and had gone inside to drop something off when the shooting happened, Marcum said. Police did not have a solid motive Friday.
