Lexington police were looking for two people who broke into a man's home Tuesday, held him against his will and severely cut his hand.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to a house on Van Buren Drive for a report of burglary and assault, Lexington spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
A man told police that the two people, who were wearing masks, kicked in the back door of his house.
Initial reports said the two assailants tried to cut off the victim's fingers, Roberts said, although at 1 p.m., she said she could not confirm that.

The man, who police and fire officials did not identify, ran to a neighbor's house, where neighbors called police.
The victim suffered severe cuts to his hand and was being treated at a Lexington hospital, Roberts said.
Lexington Division of Fire spokesman Joe Best said he did not have additional information.
