Lexington police captured a man within half an hour of his escape early Thursday from the Blackburn Correctional Complex on Spurr Road.

At 2:08 a.m., police were called to the area of Georgetown and Spurr roads about a possible sighting of the escapee by Blackburn staffers, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

Officials had been looking for Richard N. Roland, 27, since 1:35 a.m., Roberts said.

Roland was found in a tree line, Roberts said.

Roland was charged with second-degree escape and was at the Fayette County Detention Center on Thursday morning, spokeswoman Jennifer Taylor said.
