A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded on a Lexington street Wednesday night in what police described as a drug deal gone awry.
The teen was being treated at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for what appeared to be a non-life-threatening wound, according to police.
The incident occurred about 7:15 p.m. in the 1600 block of Thames Drive off Armstrong Mill Road.
According to police, an altercation began over the drug transaction, which ended with someone shooting the teen and then fleeing on foot. Officers were searching in the Trent Boulevard area and interviewing involved parties at the hospital Wednesday night.
