Taylor County man faces at least 25 years in prison for child porn

A Taylor County man faces at least 25 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to federal child-pornography charges, according to U.S. Attorney David J. Hale.

Tony Edwin Davis, 50, admitted that on at least 14 occasions in 2009 and 2010, he persuaded, induced or coerced two girls under age 5 to engage in sexually explicit behavior so he could record it on a cell phone, according to Hale's news release and court records.

The crime came to light after Davis asked a relative if he could use her cell phone as an alarm clock.

When Davis returned the phone three or four months later, the owner found a sexually explicit image of a 2-year-old girl on it, according to a court record. The owner of the phone notified police.

The mandatory minimum sentence for Davis is 25 years, but the maximum is 710 years, according to the release from Hale, U.S. Attorney for the western half of the state.

Davis, who remains in custody, is to be sentenced in May.
